Hulu Plus acquired the streaming rights to 'Arty' films from Criterion back in 2011, and now they are letting everyone watch them for free on Hulu. Only restrictions are that you must be US based, you will have to put up with ads, and you better be quick, you only have two days to watch them.
The freebie was announced by Criterion to celebrate the second anniversary of their partnership. The statement said, "This Valentine's Day weekend, we have a sweet treat for you. From today, February 14, through Monday, February 18, all of the Criterion titles streaming on Hulu Plus, available to viewers in the U.S., will be free of charge to non subscribers."
So great news if your into alternative kind of movies like Eraserhead by David Lynch, acclaimed documentary Hoop Dreams, and award winning short film The Red Balloon.
There are also some more well known titles like Seven Samurai, Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps, amongst the 800 or so films that date from the 1920?s. Here is a good guide to the movies available.
There's a lot of strange, unusual, rare and subtitled content on the website alongside more well known sstuff, so catch the Criterion collection on Hulu right now â" times ticking. But if your reading this too late, then a subscription to Hulu Plus is $ 7.99 per month.
